The past two years have drastically changed the way people work and collaborate. Work is more connected, collaborative, and reliant on remote collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams than ever before. To help empower data-driven business culture in this new virtual working world, Microsoft Power BI launched a collaborative data analytics experience by making data more accessible - bringing it to people where they work, where it’s just one click away when they need to make a decision.

In this project, I led product strategy and UX execution by creating, pitching, and driving cross-team alignment on product vision with concept design to stakeholders across 3 Microsoft organizations.

Learnings & reflection
  • How to effectively translate users value, and business priorities from larger product ecosystem to build a cross-product vision, alignment, and roadmap across multiple organizations.

  • One successful strategy to influence and effectively proposing solutions to stakeholders or leadership teams is to understand their goals and priorities. I learned that oftentimes we all have the same customer goals. But, the route and methods we take could be differently. Emphasize on common goals and collaboratively walk towards that goals together.

  • North start vision is really important to help show a product's potential value, drive alignments, and get stakeholder buy-in. Partner teams use the north star to understand a product's vision, value, and how it'll impact customers. Driving clarity and alignment through collaboration

  • Making people willing to say yes and be able to say yes on the product execution are completely different stories. Sometimes, it really depends on the right timing and conditions. Don't be afraid of "No" and do ask how can we make this this happens together as a team.
